Martin Luther Salami

Remarkable – a sausage Bible. I suppose this must relate to the Affair of the Sausages (1522), when Zwingli suggested it was OK to eat sausage during Lent – his sermon, Von Erkiesen und Freiheit der Speisen (Regarding the Choice and Freedom of Foods), was grounded in Martin Luther’s doctrine of sola scriptura: “Christians are free to fast or not to fast because the Bible does not prohibit the eating of meat during Lent.” So, a great Lenten present for one’s sausage-loving Reformation-minded pals.
